This application is an overview and preparation for understanding Buddha sculpture in Nara City.
To use this app, please first take a look at the information about Buddha statues.
There are also references listed, and obtaining those, if you have a chance would be very useful.
Nara Engineering Arts Museum, which exhibits Nara crafts,is also introduced.
Finally, please check out the examples of the Buddha sculpture although it is novice’s work.
As a sequel to this app, an application about the Buddha sculpting process is being planned.
My comment
I have wanted to engrave a Buddha statue for many years and I am committed to enjoying it now.
This hobby is perfect for those who want to immerse themselves
into something, or want to forget worldly things and be free from thought.
Doing Buddha sculpture after retirement might be often considered a hobby to prevent senility, but this is not the case.
The weight of a 1300-year long history, and the excellence of the art
that is the Buddha sculpture, this wonderful culture gives me satisfaction.
I would like to forever keep this tradition in importance,
and for the youth to take over in cherishing it.
